Fee
What it is for
How often is it due?
$10
Fee for joining the Girl Scouts
Yearly along with registration
$20
For the troop
Helps pay for supplies used for activities.
Helps pay for Try-its.
When the girl first joins the troop then yearly
At first we were going to do this just once when the girl joined the troop but let's face it - $20 does not go far these days.
$1
For the troop
Helps pay for supplies
Gives the Girl Scout a responsibility for the troop
Each meeting
If you find this difficult then bring whatever you can (every penny helps!).
Or, have the Brownie bring in something the troop can use such as a garbage bag, paper, yarn, magazines - this way the troop won't have to
spend their money on buying these items for activities.
Less than $15
Brownie Vest or Sash
To identify the girls as a Brownie
To identify our troop number and other required insignia
So the girls have something to put their Try-its and unofficial patches on
If the girls could wear a white or light blue shirt with some brown pants/skirt/skort/shorts then they would have an outfit that looks
reasonably like the official Brownie uniform. But blue jeans are just fine as well!
Approximately $60
For the whole Brownie outfit (excluding the sash/vest and white shirt which you can buy anywhere for a lot less money)
This is NOT mandatory! This is optional and most girls will not have the whole outfit. See above for the required outfit.
For one outfit
Approximately $25
For the Brownie Try-it and Brownie Handbook
This is optional. We have these books for the troop and the girls will use them for helping decide upon their activities and the leader
will use them to help guide her through the specific activities needed to earn a Try-it. If you wish to buy them please feel free to do so since they are
written for individual girl use.
The girls and parents may look through the troop copies of the books during the meetings but may not take them home with them (so they don't get lost). Of course, if they have their own books they may bring them along to each meeting.
Miscellaneous
Parents may be asked for addional money for special trips/projects, especially before the troop can earn funds through sales
This will be discussed with the parents before making any decision on an excursion.
If someone will have some difficulty then please see the leader in private so we can work something out.
We don't want any of the girls left out due to a money issue!
There's always a way to get around it if we need to. Don't be embarassed, the leader (Babs) has had her own troubles with money in the past and knows
all about it!
