All meetings start out with a plan but may get changed on the fly depending upon the girls behavior and the length of time we spend on each part of a project... We are flexible though! What we don't finish one week we'll carry on in the next meeting until we get it all done!

This table goes in ascending order showing the newest information first.

5. Demonstrate and discuss eclipses. The girls had a little difficulty understanding this concept so will work on it next week as well.

(new moon, waxing cresent, first quarter, waxing gibbus, full moon, waning gibbus, last quarter, waning cresent)
7. The girls started a weather calendar and will maintain it for at least the next week then bring it in next week to compare with what the other girls did.
8. The girls started a weather calendar and will maintain it for at least the next week then bring it in next week to compare with what the other girls did.
9. On the above calendar, the girls are to draw the shape of the moon each night they think to look at it for the next month. Have them bring it in each week to compare it with what the other girls saw.
10. Have the girls look for outdoor flying creatures such as butterflies and birds and write them down over the next week. Bring their list in to the next meeting so we can discuss the differences and similarities in what they saw.
11. Looked at a book that has information on different birds and bats. Discussed different types of birds. Discussed the behavior of bats if you throw stones in the air when bats are around and why they do it.
12. We ate the dehydrated fruit we made last week after discussing the effects of evaporation and clouds. Some of the girls really liked the dehydrated kiwi (surprisingly), a few really disliked the food. But, the important thing was that each girl tried each food to see if she liked it and didn't flatly turn the food down. They were told how good that was to do.
13. Discussed taking care of pets and learned how to care for our Troop Mascot named Trooper (a betta fish). Discussed how the water needs to be cleaned on a schedule so that the fish has clean water to swim/breath/eat in. Discussed a little about water chemistry.
14. Saw the alphabet "sung" in finger spelling (the manual alphabet).
18. Our letter of the day was A. We learned the letter A in the manual alphabet as well as in braille.
16. Our word of the day was Axilla. We learned how to finger spell the word and what it meant.
17. Angel learned a little about accounting by helping figure out how to enter information on our troop dues ledger. Discussed with the girls how much money we had in the troop account.
18. We had a new member join! Welcome to Destinee!

We had 5 more girls join up for a total of 10 girls! Welcome to all of our new members!
Discussed troop rules such as no running, take a buddy with you at all times, never leave your buddy, etc.
Introduced our Troop Mascot (a betta fish) named Trooper.
Cut up some fruit and put it in a dehydrator to learn about evaporation. The fruit will evaporate over a week and the girls will see the fruits of their labor when they come next week. This will also loosely tie in with the idea of water evaporating to make clouds.
Discuss the delay in eye/brain/body reaction.
Looked at a head model with facial muscles and vessels.
Do some activities to demonstrate different body reactions to stimuli.
Discussed and practiced washing and drying our hands correctly. Discussed why you should be particularly careful about washing your hands in a public bathroom.
Each girl received a paper with the Girl Scout Promise on it in both written language and in Level 1 uncontracted Braille. They also viewed a page completely done in Braille with the Girl Scout Law on it.
