Here's some information I read on webpages that I thought interesting but I have discovered that some of the information is wrong:
Lice can hold their breath for up to 30 minutes, that's why they don't drown when you wash your hair
I have discovered that this is FALSE, they don't drown because your hair does NOT get wet down to the scalp no matter how hard you scrub. You must part the hair into tiny sections and rub the shampoo into your scalp which is pretty hard to do when you are by yourself and tiresome to do when you have several children who must be deloused... Soaking your head doesn't do any good, know why? Because the oils on your scalp repels the water! That is why I say you must part the hair and rub the cream rinse into your hair when trying to get rid of the lice...
Getting your hair permed will not kill the lice nor their eggs
(yes, this I have discovered is true).
Nits with living embryo's will glow under florescent light. An easy way to find the live nits compared to the empty ones.
(I have not tried this but would love to. The health department lady told me this was true though)
Lice will die within a few hours to a day
(FALSE - I put several lice into a glass bowl and discovered that it took from 24 to 48 hours for them to die... Now imagine getting up in the morning and frantically cleaning yourself off to get rid of the lice only to crawl back into the bed that night without changing the sheets... And people wonder why they can't get rid of the lice).
Lice do not fly, swim, or jump. (TRUE, well, except for the swim part. They do sort of swim in an attempt to survive, like an ant would. But they don't climb into water and swim on purpose so don't worry that one will crawl at you in the tub or climb onto your butt out of the toilet water!)
Lice prefer clean hair (so, know you know, you can't automatically say someone was dirty or filthy if they have head lice!)
(OK, I can't say I have tested to see if this is true so I'm going to take the word of the department of health and the science webpages on this one - I don't think anyone would appreciate me dropping some lice into their hair for an experiment!)

OK, below you will find some useful links on lice I found on the internet. There are so many! And, so many have conflicting information. The information I have included on my site are what worked for me. Some links may be dead, sorry! I need to go through these again.
