Lucky is an old old dog. She would never let me pet her but would sniff at my legs. Lucky knew me for about a year before her life turned upside down. When the family left, Lucky and a puppy were locked in the house. I knew there were 3 puppies but could only find 2 of them. I thought they took one with them. Then, in the late evening, I could hear a puppy yelping. I searched the whole yard and then realized the puppy was in the house. The basement door was open so I went in and found both Lucky and the puppy. I could NOT believe Lucky was still there. Poor Lucky! She has cataracts and is nearly blind! But, she let me pick her up the poor thing, and I took her home with me along with the puppies. Poo-Poo, who was protective of the puppies, was not too happy with this turn of events but kept her distance. Below is a close-up of Lucky who is a "hot dog". Lucky, I discovered, was a very lovable dog. She would cuddle under the covers with you and barked at everything! She even let Heidi crawl on her and hug her, our dog Sparkle took right to her, but the cat kept her distance - Lucky took particular joy in chasing that cat! Lucky's owners came by about 2 weeks after they had left her and wanted her back. I had no choice but to hand her over. Lucky was very happy to see her owners even though I was not. They told me they did not care about the puppies and that I could take them back to where they got them (at a garage sale), I told them I doubted very much that the people would take them back. I also told them that Lucky was always welcome back if they ever had to "get rid of her". I doubt I'll ever see Lucky again.
