Here are pictures of the puppies. We found a home for only one of them. My daughter was hoping so much to be able to keep the white one but, we already have 2 dogs and a cat that others have abandoned, we just couldnt' take in any more animals.
My daughter named the white one Snowflake, the brown one Bubble, and the other puppy that I never got a picture of was named Chewy. The other puppy looked very much like the brown one except it was darker in color.

We had the puppies for almost a month. They stayed outside in a pen. Every once in a while Poo-Poo would come over and fuss at them, I know Poo-Poo missed playing with them but we had to keep them safe so they would not get hit by cars, etc. The owners of these dogs had another dog, a black lab puppy named Bowdy, about 6 months old who was hit by a car while the kids were standing waiting for their school bus. The kids saw it all - the dog ran after the car and got caught in the wheel and then flipped several times. It was still alive. I came running out of the house when I heard them screaming to see what had happened. The puppies owner came out reluctantly and only because she saw the car driver and I were out there. She dragged the dog to the front porch and left it there. After the kids went to school I went over to see the dog - it's back legs were all scratched up and I had a feeling it's left leg was broken. I'm sure there were some type of internal injuries. It was just standing there pathetically, it couldn't sit down - I guess due to the pain. I asked if she was going to take it to the vet and she said she was. I watched all day. The dog just stood out there with it's ears drooping, head down, just standing there. Finally, I looked out at 2pm and I saw the dog was finally lying down - I think she finally collapsed. I called the police, they said "it's not a police matter". I called a vet, he said I could bring the dog in, I wish I had now. But, at the time, I was thinking "if I take it in, I'll have to pay the vet bill, and they'll get the dog". Shame on me. I wish I had taken the poor thing in, I was just sure they'd take the dog to the vet eventually. But, the vet gave me some phone numbers to call - animal control. I called and they said that they can't do anything unless the dog is off their property. They asked me if I could get the dog over to my property. I told them I would go get the dog now. Well, darn it, by then the kids had come home and the little boy who lived next door dragged the dog in the house.
They never took the dog to the vet. She died in the backyard in a pen all by itself. Before she died, my hubby had snuck over for me to check on the dog and he told me she was eating, she couldn't get up but she was eating. I don't know how long it took poor Bowdy to die. I have not been able to find Bowdy's body, I was sure I'd find it in the backyard somewhere but it's not there. Who knows where Bowdy is?
Anyway, these puppies are so cute, the brown one is more mellow than the white one. They like to cuddle with you and they are digging holes in their pen area.
June 21, 2000 is the day the dog pound came to pick up the puppies. My heart is heavy for them. I don't know what will happen to them, I fear the worst. I only hope they are cared for nicely until they are put to sleep. I hope they don't suffer. If one gets adoped, it will probably be Snowflake - I liked them both but Bubble was my favorite. They were so scared when the man came and I put them in the truck myself. I feel like I betrayed them. It was 1:30 in the afternoon when they left.
